MK3 2012 Focus Swimming pool in spare wheel well.

So I know this topic has been covered before.  But i thought i'd give you my thoughts.  Firstly, whoever designed this thing needs a good kick!  Secondly.  Don't be afraid to try and rectify this yourself.  You only need a basic tool kit and a bit of patience.

The bumper is simple to remove.  Just 3 torx screws in each side in the wheel arches and 2 on the back of the bumper and 2 clips underneath.  Undo the clips and the bumper comes right off.  You will however need to remove the rear lights.  And these are just held in with 2 plastic screws.  You'll need pliers, as they are really on there.

Now comes the fun part.  Getting the vents out.  There are 4 clips on each and it took some cussing and swearing to get them.  Once the vents are out, you can remove the insulation, which is probably absolutely saturated.  And this is where the problem is.  It wicks any moisture into the sound proofing pad in the boot right into the spare wheel well and or down to the back seat and carpet.

The drivers side sound proofing in mine was soaked and growing mould!

Then it's just a case of sealing the vents.  Refitting the bumper and drying everything out the best you can.

There are video's out there to help.  And i wish i'd taken pictures.  But to be honest i just wanted to get it done!

Or, you could look at the 'stickie' at the head of the forum page, and follow in the 100s that have gone before LOL 🤣
