Hi guys. I'm asking this as you guys with the knowledges plus experiences can give me an answer to the questions I would like answered better than Google. Now I know some of you may say, why didnt you research this before buying the car? My answer is that Google doesnt seem to understand the model SCTi 1.6 alone and bunches the 1.0 version plus other Ford Focuses since its a very popular car.

I have recently bought a 2011 model 150hp petrol 1.6 turbo that had only 65k miles on the clock (it has 67k now because of me adding 2k miles to it before the typing of this post)

It runs fine, 90mph no shakes or rattles. (Not that I usually go that fast, I wanted to give it the beans just once to see how it fared that time it was still silky smooth)

The questions I want answered are as follows:

1: Whens the optimal cam belt change? I see answers ranging from 80k miles to 120k miles.

2: Hows the reliability of these 1.6 turbo engines, I see some people have issues with the 1.0 but what about the 1.6?

3: The engine does have a very SLIGHT niggle at idle, IE I can feel a subtle shake in the car, is this something I need to be concerned about?

4: How do I know that the turbo is working? When I accelerate, I cant feel a difference at all. Now I'm completely new to turbo powered cars, and I assumed you could just feel it "kick in" so to speak??? You know that meme "When the VTech kicks in yo" For the Hondas. (Anyhoo 3rd gear 40mph to 90 is like i dunno 5 seconds away if even that so quick and so easy to accelerate in this car I love speeding off and out performing BMWs and Audis and please dont shatter my bubble that those drivers arent going full whack lol)

thanks for your answers.

Googling 1.6 EcoBoost should help your searching.  I've never seen anyone refer to them as SCTI in real life lol.

Cambelt interval is 10 years or 125k miles...so it is due now on age regardless of mileage.

Early 1.6EB's caught fire...but they should have all had the recall done by now...you can check for outstanding recalls on ETIS or the .Gov site.

Rough idle is probably more to do with engine mounts than the engine itself.  Modern engines often have a slightly rough idle as they're in a battle to just keep the engine running while also creating the absolute lowest possible emissions.

As for the turbo, if you want to feel a 'kick' of boost you need something old with a big laggy turbo...generally something Japanese performance based like an Evo...  With small modern turbo engines you get a nice progressive powerband.
