I was directed here by others.

My 2011 focus sat nav is great except it does not find some old postcodes (say 2005) for example.

I was told to ask here about whole car updates often fixing the sat nav?

Would that be right? 

Getting fed up of using garmin to find latitude and longitude and then sticking it into the focus sat nav.

I assume you have the old Ford NX satnav system with the hidden CD disk.

You can get a new upto date SatNav CD on eBay for about £25

No, it takes a SD card. 

I have been told even a newish  SD card wont fix the postcode problem and i need a CAR usb pen upgrade to fix the sat nav. Hence my reluctance to buy an SD card unless i know it will fix it in light of what i have 'heard' from the Ford Dealership. If i knew a mate with a more modern focus i'd try theirs.

News to me. I can drive really well, but electronics are a black art to me.

Hello Ted, I would expect that updating the SD card would also update the postcodes unless there is some firmware bug that needs sorting. I expect someone with an answer will be along tomorrow so keep checking back

 

I would still give it a try, at least the roads will be up to date 😀.
