Focus Mk2 Rear Brake Drum Hose

Featured Replies

Hello. I'm in the process of replacing the trailing arm bushes on a 2006 Focus Mk2 with drum brakes. I've been able to remove one arm, disconnecting the brake hose by rotating the arm and hub to do so, not something I want to repeat if possible. The hoses are connected to the hard lines (pipes) on both sides where the union doesn't have a standard hex nut on the pipe side. Is this normal for stock and if so, what's the best way to disconnect the hose to make removal and reattaching easier? I've also read that the pipe has a union to the pipe to the master cylinder somewhere in the middle of the vehicle; I've not got under far enough to see this yet due to complications with covering the paved drive including inspection pit, with gravel (something I have regretted ever since I took advice from my in-laws 17 years ago). Is this union standard on this car? If so, it will give me a fall-back option to replace the pipe and hose to this point rather than ***** around the front of the car to get the £20 job done (I've already spent around £150 on tools and parts for this, my second focus washed the bores with a failing FACM and popped the tappets only days after getting a clean MOT, so I'm stuck with a 20 year old Pug Partner and my wife using the in-law's 2nd car until I can get this one through the test). Is there a way I can get the hose disconnected from the pipe?
