Focus MK3 ST Estate - Cam chain or belt?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've been page skipping for ages to try find the answer, sorry if duplicate, I have a 2012 MK3 ST Estate and have been told it has a cam chain, not belt, is that correct?

Thanks a lot

Perfect! Thanks a lot!

Do you know if there is there any recommendations on changing it or having it tensioned?

Just out of interest I have a 62 plate 1.6tdci econetic titanium x is this belt or chain?

1.6tdci is dry belt

A dry belt is a timing belt that doesn't run in oil.

Sorry meant a chain not belt

1.6tdci diesel is definitely belt. Compared to a lot of cars this is a relatively easy one to replace the belt
