Rear seat cushion removal MK4 5-door?

Featured Replies

Anyone know how to remove the rear seat base cusion from a MK4 2020 5-door? I can't find any obvious brackets/screws etc holding it down.

help appreciated - Richard

It's just "clipped" in, like a stiff push fit.

You can pull it up from the back of the seat (nearest the back support). It needs quite a tug to overcome it.

I didn't completely remove mine but I assume it will carry on and pull of completely. I just lifted the back/side to run a dashcam cable.

Thanks Alex, but didn't the ISOFIX anchors prevent this? It looks as if the cushion needs to slide forward to clear these thanks.

Maybe I lifted the side/front first, I seem to remember it being more difficult to refit around the isofix now you've said it, than to remove it.

I may not have removed it in the best way to be honest, but it does just seem to be held in with stiff push/clip fittings.

Couldn't find the catches (got my hand stuck!) but I did manage to do what I needed to do, which was "reveal" the nearside ISOFIX anchor points by easing the back of the cushion forwards and downwards. Something my local Ford dealer couldn't fix when I took it in along with a few other niggles! They had thought I'd need a major repair to the floorpan to weld the anchors in place, which they couldn't do ('cos they didn't have bodyshop facilities).

I guess I did label the niggle as "Missing nearside rear ISOFIX anchors" but then, they should have spotted what I eventually did, that the cushion didn't look right, 5 minutes ferreting behind it with my hand identified the real cause).

I had bought the car from another branch of the same dealership so they referred me back to the other branch, which is ridiculous, any Ford dealer should deal with warranty claims irrespective of where the car was bought from.  (Didn't have this problem with Vauxhall when I bought a 6-month old car from a car supermarket some years back). Rant over😉

I think to remove the rear seat cushion you have to push hard down on the front edge and then at the same time push the cushion back towards the boot as hard as you can. Then the front should lift up and the seat cushion slide forward. It's a bit of an acquired  knack but once it's out and you see how it was hooked in then you will understand how easy it is to refit.
