Smax farting noise!

Featured Replies

I brought a smax diesel titanium On Saturday from a dealer, on Tuesday had some noise problems and when the engine turns off all I can describe is a loud farting noise.
the dealer picked the car up and said the alternator belt needed doing which he’s done but as for the “farting” noise his mechanic has said this is normal. My question is it normal? If not what could it be?

Were you giving it the beans?

Lol if only it was that

  • 1 month later...

I have a 2012 S-Max 2.0 Diesel which I have had from 6 months old.  While it was still under manufactures warranty it was making a noise like you have described when turned off.  The garage told me it was the turbo pressure valve (I think, it was a while ago and I am not very technical) and whilst it would not cause any problem they replaced it under warranty.  It still makes a bit of a noise but not as bad.
