Oil pressure warning light on 2014 Fiesta Ecoboost

Featured Replies

My Wifes Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost oil pressure low warning message comes on when the car is started from cold.

I have taken the vehicle to Evans Halshaw for a diagnostics check and they removed the sump and have said that the oil pick up pipe is blocked and that the cambelt is breaking up.  They are now telling me that this vehicle needs a new Engine block and a new turbo unit fitting!!!!!

Is this correct?  I've been told that this is a Ford motor company issue and they are fully aware of the problem.

That is correct, there are lots of posts about it on this forum.

Hello Carl, welcome to the Ford Owners Club.

Yes the 1.0 Ecoboost engine has a few problems. Once it has suffered from low oil pressure it is nearly always game over.

By now there must be a few hundred posts on here regarding the failure of the 1.0 ecoboost, the probable causes and what might help avoid the failure. The cost of a full brand new engine from Ford at the moment is £2500 (excludes the turbo). It takes about 8 to 10 hours to do the job so at Ford prices that's about £1200 to £1400.

You are not likely to get any contribution from Ford, as the cost of the new engine has already been discounted. The vehicle needs have been serviced by Ford at every require interval, (and remember those are maximum times between service) more frequent oil and filter changes are required if the car does a lot of short journeys.

In short, it is boarder line as to whether it is worth spending approx £4000 on an 8 year old fiesta.

Thank you for your help and advice.

Hi Carl, you are the second guy in the last 2 hours with the same problem.

The other person has a 2012 model and so I would say for him its sell for spares or repair.
