Overspeed warning chime not working

Featured Replies

Hello

I have recently purchased a Focus ST-LINE SB. It has the intelligent speed limiter (through signal recognition) but doesn't make any audible warning when I accidentally exceed speed.

I've tried removing the smart limiter and assigning the speed limit myself, but it doesn't make a warning sound either.

In the manual it says that in addition to flashing the road sign in the cluster (which it does) it emits a warning sound.

Any solution?

Thanks in advance.

All the best.

The manual for the UK is out of date. There is no sound on mine either.

I turned the sound off in the dash menu on mine, found it annoying when it recognized the wrong speed limit.

Yes !! thats a very good point, it would drive you crazy if it kept chiming when it had the wrong speed limit (which mine does a lot). My car has never had the option to chime, not something I've missed.

How did you do that? Could you say step by step what did you do? Thanks.

I have tried it turning on and off all things in the cluster... but it didn't solve the problem.

Well, MarkRS9 say that he turned it off. Maybe our cars have something, wrongly, disabled from factory.

Thanks.

But I don't ask for an audible warning of exceeding the limit of the road. My question is about an audible warning when you exceed the limit that you have set.

That was what did my old Focus, (which also had signal recognition) ... but this Focus doesn't seem to have it.

I suspect that this may all be part of the 2022 automatic speed control of all new cars. Just wait for the fun to begin as cars slow down randomly as they misread speed signs.

I thought about this when travelling along the A1 yesterday. a 40mph section of roadworks with 5mph signs in the coned off lane which was being used for the construct traffic. Loads of fun to be had on a motorway with vehicles automatically changing speed from 40 to 5 and back to 40 when they read each sign. 🙄

Hello,

I have just tried it around town on a downhill slope, and it does beep.

I don't know what happened the other day. The strangest thing is that there are more users complaining (in other forums) about the lack of a beep.

A spokesperson has said that the "beep" has been removed because it discriminated against those drivers who are deaf. They went on to say as part of on going equality changes the speedo  and other instruments are to be removed to make cars equal for blind drivers of which there appears to an increasing number !  🤣
