2019 Mk4 Tyre Question

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

Weird question, basically took a chunk out of a front tyre avoiding a new driver near my house…so have been looking on BlackCircles for new rubber.

At the moment I have PS4’s on the rear 235/40/R18 91W and Prestivo ones on the front 235/40/ZR18 95Y but the sticker in the door does match whats on the rear. So I imagine that the dealer i got the car off of a few months ago put the wrong load factor ones on the front? Or does it not matter that much…apologies, bit of a newbie here.

Also would be interested to hear any recommendations for tyres, mainly town and country road driving out in the sticks.

Cheers,

The ones they put on the front have a higher load and speed rating than the ones that Ford specified. I would stick with the specified ones, unless you are planning on taking the car to a race track. They should be cheaper as well.

If you fit tyres with a load rating different to the Ford approved ones on the plate, then in the event of an accident a jobsworth insurance assessor could invalidate your policy, unless you tell them obviously.

Thanks for the feedback, both things are good to know…I’ll pop the car into the local ProTyre place and see what they have. Sod’s law it’s before a long trip on the weekend!

At least the front tyres are the ones that you will be replacing,  and kwikfit have 10% off PS4 when you buy 2

The PS4’s you have on the rear are what are recommended.  My Vignale is 3 years old and on 42000 miles and I’ve just stared on my second set.  I wouldn’t have anything else!
