Replacement car for Titanium X TDCI Estate Automatic 2009

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site but have an imminent problem. My wife had her above car totalled by a drunk driver this afternoon. She wants to replace it with a more modern equivalent. Similar level of specification to relative cars of the time but upgraded to a 2021 comparison. She is looking to buy (probably from a Ford authorised dealer) in the next few days and to be quite honest, I don't have the knowledge (or the time) to advise her on the 2021 equivalent. It must be automatic, leather seats, probably 3 years old to be even remotely affordable  (insurance will probably pay £2500 - Heartbreaking for a loved 40,000 mile car), she wants petrol (or diesel as a last resort) but not hybrid or fully electric unless there is a very strong reason for it. This is a last car buy, in the sense that if it lasts 14 years I doubt either of us will worry about what we will be buying next. She just wants the same quality and relative performance as her current car without the rear end damage, smashed axle/ wheel and airbag decoration her current car now has.

Can anyone advise which model she should consider?

You sure are a cool guy. If that had just happened to me the last thing I would be thinking of is 'I must join the Ford Owners Club and ask about buying a new one'

well that helps, we can cross off the pixie dust power 🤣

The only real bit of advice I will say is, what ever you get do not buy a car with the 1.0 ecoboost engine if you want it to last 14 years.

Toyota CH-R Hybrid

I’m not going to be able to advise but my first thought is does it have to be mondeo size or will something smaller do?
