Ford Badge

Featured Replies

My tailgate Ford badge is corroding quite horribly, is there anywhere I can get a new replacement that is colour coded to the car? Also what size badge do I need as there are so many available? Has anyone fitted the Gel Overlays and are they any good? Does anyone have any close up pictures of them fitted?

So many questions, I apologise.

I put gels on mine and they were excellent, I put them on the front, back and wheels. Also did the steering wheel and colour coded it to my car, I even chose a new font.

Ahh ok, they look good. But don't think they will work for mine as they look like they go up to the silver edging, which is what is corroding on mine and looks nasty.

Parts site on the web suggests the tailgate badge for mk3 Focus is Ford finis no. 1717503

You can try ebay search or go to local Ford dealer.

I painted one for mine, masked off the centre logo then bit of rubbing down primer Halfords satin black etc Done with a new badge, then fitted to the tailgate finisher.

These days you could maybe get the same outcome with plastic spraying instead of painting if that’s easier

If you look at my badges Insitu on the pics then you will see the silver surround is now black. All I did was wrapped the whole badge with black vinyl and then put the gel overlay on top. Super simple and you can customise the actual badge then. Badge does not need to be removed to wrap.

I think the Mk3 badge set up is different to the mk3.5 which I believe you guys have. I don't have that backing plate on mine.

What does your badge and surround look like?

Mine is like this.

That's the same as mine was. I wrapped that whole thing so it was just a complete black oval and then put the overlay on top, which left a black outline.

HAHA, I can see it now. The carbon fibre was playing tricks on my eyes and making it look an inverted oval.
