Featured Replies

dash display says door open when its shut

alarm goes off

interior light comes on while driving along with display that says passenger door open

spoke to garage says might have electrical fault any idea where to start looking

thanks

It's not a job for a garage mechanic, you need an auto electrician.

There are two possible locations that maybe causing the issue. First check very carefully the wiring as it goes between the door and the door post of the car. Check the connectors where the harness plugs in to the door for signs of damaged wires or more likely water and corrosion.

The second place that would give these problems is the BCM (Body Control Module) which is part of the fusebox located behind the glovebox. Disconnect the negative lead from the car battery before you begin.

Check all the large plugs and sockets connected to the BCM, disconnect them and look for signs of water and greenish corrosion of the pins. There is a known problem with water getting in to the BCM on your model and it causes all kinds of random faults. Working on the BCM fusebox is difficult and hard to see, make sure you have a good torch.

have another problem now cant open nearside doors both are deadlocked so cant access the fuse box any idea how to do this because of this cant lock the car therefore cant access the fuse box

have booked car in at fords for alarm diagnostic cant look at it till new years eve

thanks for reply

It would seem that you have a problem with the BCM. you are/they are just going to have to climb over in to passenger side, push the seat back and work upside down to gain access to the BCM. There is no magic unlock procedure for the doors if they are deadlocked.

have gone in as you said where is bcm located near wing or center console area thanks

the bcm is that the whole fuse board or silver box ??

The whole of the back of the fusebox is the BCM. Disconnect the negative battery lead before you start pulling connectors off the BCM and the fusebox. Look for signs of water and/or greenish corrosion of connector pins. Checked for any signs that water has got in to the BCM and caused track damage to the PCB
