Resetting window bounce back

Featured Replies

I had to call out the RAC this morning to a dead battery. Since the battery was replaced the electric window bounce back has gone haywire.

The owners manual tells you how to reset the bounce back but when I try to do so it doesn’t work.

Has anybody any ideas how to overcome this problem please?

Yes. Follow the procedure in the manual but you will have to put the windows up and down more than once for it to work.

Thank you
I did it a few times. The trouble is the instruction says close the window fully then open it fully but the window won’t close fully without bouncing down. So I sat and tried the routine a few times on the driver’s door but no luck.

To make sure the car is secure I’ve had to inch each window up as high as possible without making full contact or else it just opens up again.

I’ve booked it in to my local main Ford dealer on Friday so I’ll see.

That's exactly how it works.

Once you keep your finger on the up n down process after a few times it eventually goes all the way up and stays there.

Persevere with it. It takes about 5 mins per window at most.

Ok, well thanks very much. I’ll give it a go tomorrow.

You can of course use the procedure in the manual and just turn Bounce Back off.

Cheers. I’ll try Wino’s suggestion tomorrow and if I don’t have any luck I’ll try turning it off

The morning after the day before…just come on to give a shout-out to Wino and unofix. Been out this morning and done what they recommended. It was a bit disconcerting having to do the routine time after time but each front window took about eight minutes. The rear windows almost straight away.

The reason I come on this forum is the genuine helpfulness of the members and the tolerance of a daft old coot like me 😀

Glad you got it sorted 👍

Happy to know it's working for you now 😀

Thank you very much, Wino. This helped as the instructions in the Ford manual just don't cover the 'procedure'. Had to try like two minutes a window to have them working again. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Thanks folks - ended up here after searching this problem which helped me with one additional step worth registering for and mentioning:

If the window bounces back constantly even following the instructions, start again and on the second time up press against the glass with your hand (sitting next to the door in question). This relieves perceived tension and it won't come back down. THEN when you press down and hold it down you will hear the click.

If you are in the same situation I was, this reduces reset time to about 20 seconds per window as well so time saved. I had 2 windows doing this so wasn't just a fluke with the first one and second was really quick to reset.

Although I didn't save much in the end with all the trial and error maybe someone else will 😄
