Books

Featured Replies

Hi people, I have approximately 150 assorted books which I have no longer have a use for. I have read them all and now just need to get rid of them. Apparently recycling will not accept them because of the glue in the spine. Any ideas? Cheers Keith

I tried that but I have about 6 or 7 boxes and they dont want them

The dustbin might like them.Ask nicely though.

Who knew reading was so bad for the environment.  I didn't realise glued books couldn't be recycled, thought it was just the sewn type.  Assumed the glue would just melt and be removed at the 'sludge' stage of paper recycling.

There are 'book banks' near me alongside clothing banks, glass banks and weee banks so may be worth checking if there are any near you.

Depends where you live, I put a box of books on front garden wall with a sign inviting people to take them.  Most went after a few days.  But I realise not everyone’s home makes it easy to do this and if needs to be dry weather. (I did bring the box back in at night and when weather poor)
