fiestavanman
Hi everyone, I have just been given a 2010 plate diesel fiesta van from my work to replace my old transit, didn't really need the space! The problem is the fiesta has some sort of rev limiter that cuts in every gear apart from 1st at 3000rpm! Can this be removed or is it all done through the ecu? Really does my head in when trying to overtake or climb hills since only really has any power between 2 and 3k!!
jongs
I dunno if should know this but............ ...........look above the clutch pedal, you will see an on/off switch resting on the pivot of the pedal. twist that to pop it out, leave it resting in the hole. the car now thinks its in neutral. i have only just done this and haven't tried it out fully but it seems you can now rev to 3.5k in all gears (including first :( ) easily and then it slowly progresses further but i don't know how far yet. jongs Hi all btw
wellzy
actually i can see how that would anoy cause my fiesta van often goes over 3000rpm to over take someone.
RCJ
God that must suck.... why would that be done? Is it to put a limit on speed or something?
wellzy
God that must suck.... why would that be done? Is it to put a limit on speed or something? i would not say speed as you can hit slightly ;) above 70 at 3000rpm but more to stop you thrashing the balls off it. tone
Hi Guys Ford introduced the option of having a limiter set up on the ECU. It was mainly for the large Transits. But we have three Transit Connects all 59 Plates and one of them is limited to 3k rpm so it may have been an option on the rest of Ford's Van Range. That's not say that's the problem with your Fiesta, but just a thought. We also have 3 Fiesta Vans on the fleet, Two "59 Plates" and one "10 Plate", all 1.4Tdci's all new shape. They will all rev to the red line quite easily. In fact because they perform so well, I drive one regularly and I've had it fitted with a "tuning box" which helps it cope with Motorway traffic. I suppose the next step will be to have the "intercooler" changed for one of Allisports finest to give more power. If yours does have the ECU with a limiter set up. I think Martin the Vantuner, who's done some re-mapping of various Transits, has the facility to remove it. It may be worthwhile contacting him. www.vantuner.com/ Tone

Fezzavan
Hello mate. I have the same problem...have you managed to sort it yet...it's doing my nut in!!! Hi Guys, Had exactly the same problem with my ex fleet fiesta van, it seems some fleet owners are having 3000rpm rev limiters fitted to their vehicles to keep drivers in check Try www.revlimiterremoval.co.uk they sorted mine for me, it now revs all the way to redline :) Good luck,
