Car battery dead, Key Fob batter replaced.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 60 plate focus. Originally the key fob battery was low, as displayed on a message in the car. Note, my car is a push to start. Upon coming out to unlock the car this morning, the key fob didn't unlock the car, I thought ah the key fob is dead. I replaced the battery, still no luck. So opened the car with the key blade, and the car was completely dead, no courtesy light, so the main battery was dead. Got the battery recharged, however, from here.. The alarm was going off constantly, and the car wouldn't recognize the key fob. The problem is, I can't reprogram it by putting the blade into the ignition, because the ignition doesn't turn, its just a slot the blade can go into, just a place holder for the blade it appears. So i'm at a loss for what to do, I can't start my car because it thinks its being broken into. I have to have my battery unplugged or the alarm will continue to go off, and I can't seem to find any way to re-program the key?

no spare key to try ?

if it`s the original ford batt in the car i`d invest in a new car batt too as no matter how many times you charge it up, it`s not gonna last if it`s 10yrs old

The spare is only a blade sadly, no spare fob. Yeah, I’m going to invest in a new battery for sure. I’m just worried once it’s fitted that all is going to happen is a permanent alarm.

Try it with jump leads from another healthy battery (friendly neighbour) - that should give you the 12v that you need to at least switch the car on and off and then lock it without setting the alarm (may have to use the blade to do that, perhaps - unless you can do it in the dashboard menu???).
