Rust on wing - repair or replace?

Featured Replies

My passenger wing started showing some blistering only a couple of months ago, but it is spreading fast! Is it worth repairing, or simply get a new wing? (the car is 16 years old but pretty blemish free, had to get driver wing replaced 2 years ago)

Too many variables...

How much to repair?
How much to replace?
How long do you intend keeping the car for?
How much money do you have to spare right now?

Pattern wing from EuroParts is £49 + paint and fit

Till I die (no, seriously, no intention of replacing unless engine falls out on motorway, and even then...)

Same as usual - zip 🤣

Personally, I would need quotes on how much to repair and what the "paint and fit" costs are before I could make a decision.

Fortunately, quotes are free

You're all for 'lockdowns', & covid passports, aren't you! LOL🤣

I was never locked down and if anyone tries to impose a covid passport on me I would shove it up their ars exhaust

Wire brush, brillo pad and some elbow grease.

Can of random Ford Blue a tad of Hairspray ( for lacquer) , spit for polish, job done 👍

So, that's one for 'repair' then 😂😂

I would take the wheel and wheel arch liner off to look underneath the wing as the rust is coming from that side.

If it's still solid underneath I would put some rust killer on, this may give you a bit longer before your need to replace it.

Repair (unless you really enjoy doing bodywork and paint spraying). If you replace - you would have to blow in all the panels around the wing to get a match.  I had a new ready-painted genuine Ford bumper fitted to my car when it was 5 years old and it is an awful match.
