Instrument Cluster Needles Moving When Car Is Off

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Stumbled across a weird thing when I got home from work the other day, and I’ve never noticed or seen it before.

Pulled onto my drive, turned the car off and opened the door, and I was about to get out when I got a text so was just sat reading it, and I heard a clicking noise coming from the dash.

When i looked up, the instrument needles where dropping down (rpm, speed, fuel, temp) and the raising back up every so slightly, and this repeated every 30 seconds or so.

Is this meant to happen, this is the first focus i’ve ever owned, so not sure if there is a reason why this happens, but more importantly, if this is anything I should be overly concerned about.

Thanks

My 2018 mk3.5 focus 1.5 ecoboost does this as well. It also does it when you get in the car without starting it. I think it is normal, the electronics getting prepared for starting the car but I haven't looked into what it is actually doing. My older 2011 mk3 didn't used to do this. Somebody may come along and explain it properly.
