You should pop in to KwikFit (or similar) and get a quote for TPMS, they often have offers on for non Ford sensors that they can program...

Could be because of the holiday season. If still no reply, move on to another seller...

Does the TPMS work on your car at present. I only say this because in my experience, swapping the valves over to new wheels often leads to leaks from the old seals, but that the sensors just bolt to the end of the valve inside with a smallish torx bolt so can be sapped over if you wanted to save a few £.

I got new Valves from Kwik Fit locally for £7 each and used my original sansors. Though I couldn't remember which weel they came off so bought a cheap reprogrammer and when I swap wheels I train them myself. It's an easy job.

If you only plan on doing it the once it's easier to leave it to them to do the training.

I just had my alloys re furbished and new tyres put on and was looking for the best / cheapest place to buy new TMPS sensors and in the end just went to Ford and paid 120 for a set of 4. After looking about I just thought since the original TMPS had lasted 6 years why not put the same on again as they are not the sort of thing you can change easily. With regards to programing that is really simple there are many YouTube videos showing the process then you use a remote which is held upto each tyre valve whilst pressing the button. The programer can be got from Amazon for £12. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07WDFJKMB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm unsure whether it's considered bad form to jump on someone else's bandwagon but I too am looking to buy a new wheel (singular) to throw in the boot of my wife's 2017 Mk7 Fiesta, as a spare. I'm looking at buying a brand new rim so it will come without any sort of charging valve. Reading this thread suggests all I need to do is buy the valve/TPMS sensor assembly and fit it when the new tyre gets fitted.

Am I interpreting this correctly?

Thanks,

Oh, and if it is bad form, I'm very sorry. Let me know and I'll start a new thread.

Jumping on the bandwagon too.

I need to replace one TPMS but cannot find a way of enabling the learning. Activating the TPMS may also be an issue, but I’m considering a £10 tool for this.

I have ForScan but do not see an option on that for TPMS learn.

ideas please - other than visiting a tyre fitter..

Do you not need a tyre fitter anyway seeing as the sensor is inside the wheel?

I thought somebody might ask me that.

I was recommended to purchase a set of TPMS costing £60 rather than the £200 from Ford. I wanted to test if they worked - or disable it if they don’t!

I keep getting tyre sensor not detected check owners manual every 30 minutes or so at motorway speeds id I disabled the system with forscan will it still pass an mot?

TPMS is a required system on a 2016 car, so no it won't pass an MOT. You would probably also find your car insurance void if you were to have an accident especially if caused by an under inflated tyres.

i'll leave it on then. what could cause it to trigger when driving constant 50+mph for longer than 30 mins  but never activate at city speeds?

It can be caused by you running too low  tyre pressures?  As you drive at speed the tyres will heat up and pressure will rise. Once it goes above a certain amount it will detect a change in pressure and alert you? Having said that, my car used to do this because it was leaking slightly. Only a good run out woulcheat the tyre enough to squeeze a bit of air out and drop the pressures. I changed the valves and that cured it.

Well, I purchased a set of Jaguar TPMS sensors for £60. Wheel, fitted by incompetent individual, didn't ensure inner seal was air tight. Every week I needed to re-inflate it! Visited a different garage and asked them to clean the rims and add the new TPMS. Tyre pressure was captured automatically by the vehicle's computer.

I used ForScan to reset the TPMS light and now all good again.
