REVERSE CAMERA FLICKERING

Featured Replies

Hello, this has probably already been posted on here however I can't find it and find the site quite hard to navigate around.

Essentially I have a 2012 ford Smax which already has a reverse camera installed (ford). Issues around the picture flickering (green/purple) and on a very rare occasion, works.

I've watched various videos on YouTube and specifically

I presume the issues in this video are the same on the Smax.

Does anyone have an idea/videos/diagrams that could help me in rectifying the issue.

I know it's worked previously so I'm guessing there is a connection issue somewhere.

Any help is greatly appreciated

James

I have come across this exact problem you have on a 2010 Kuga. After much investigation I tracked the fault down to a poor quality connection. In the rear right (drivers side) behind the trim not from the rear lights is a small grey multi-plug for the reverse camera. One of the cables is a 'tiny' coaxial for the video signal. I found that by moving the wires and connector about I could make the picture go purple/green, break-up with lines and even just not work.

The solution is a little fiddly but I was able with some fine tweezers able to squeeze up the socket pins in the connector and even deliberately put just a very slight bend on the connector pins so that they would make a tight connection.

That was almost 2 years ago now and the camera has bee fine since then.

Thanks. Another thing to give a go.

I think because it's a smax there are tons of wires and finding the right areas to look etc is a nightmare. But thanks
