Engine malfuction lamp comes on when engine started also have code P2585

Hi all. I have a 58 plate ford focus 1.6 tdci 71000 miles on the clock. the engine malfuction light come on when starting the engine but not just with the ignition switched on. no other warning lights on the dash. I have a code P2585, my question is would the engine malfuction light come on because of the code or is there a seperate issue. Many thanks
