Missing an engine component

2010 Ford Smax titanium x 2L petrol powershift ecoboost.

I took my car in to a mechanic for a different issue and he was interested in the red cap on the top right of my engine and said he believes there should be a component there not a cap.

I have taken a photo of my engine and sourced an online image of one. Does anyone know why I have a little red cap and other engines have a blue collar components plugged in.

What am I missing?
