oil pump extractor 12 v

Featured Replies

any one use a oil pump extractor 12 v any good or bad for doing a oil change

Used one a few times now, was sceptical before but it's fantastic tbh.  Quick, clean, and no need to jack up the car as long as your oil filter is accessible from above.

I've used a vacuum pump on my Skoda for the past few years - hardly any effort needed - tube goes down the dipstick pipe. The oil filter on that one (1.6tdi) is towards the top of the engine on the RH end, remove a bracket with some sensor wires clipped to it, then the oil filter can be unscrewed and wiggle-out past a metal tube. I also used the vacuum pump to remove residual oil from the oil filter casing. Hopefully that will work on the Focus when the time comes, but on the Mazda I still have to do it the old-fashioned way, which means unbolting a chassis brace to get at the drain plug and oil filter (the latter is almost halfway along the car!). Being over 70 doesn't help with that job these days, ho hum ...

There is one difference between the two cars - on the Skoda the vac pump removes the amount of oil that you would expect (on those there's a difference between the amount of oil that goes in when engine is new, and the regular amount, about 1ltr is left behind), but on the Mazda the pump removes a litre less oil than comes out of the drain and that isn't supposed to happen.

My vacuum pump is a Sealey, not only is it easy to extract the oil but also its easy to then pour it out into a continer for disposal, with a handle on the bottom to tip it up with.
