i wrote a letter with no joy,, it was like driving in a little village were the signs were saying 30 mph and slow on road i was doing right speed in that village then about 200yards a big cross roads cross over then you come into other village with no speed signs or road marking and open fields on both sides i never use this road just on that day i was at my docs,,

Ive done the online course. Did it on a Sunday morning so I didn't have to have time off work to do it weekday.

It wasn't too bad. Not interested what you did wrong. But highlight the dangers of speeding, blah blah blah. Was about 2.5 hrs long with a 10 Min break midway . Also you will find out why no signs doesn't necessarily mean no speed limit.

One of the things they’ll tell you on the course, is how to recognise what the speed limit is for the road you are driving on. Looks like it would be worth you doing it.

I attended one in person over 4 years ago now - basically a whole day but at least plenty of tea and biscuits on hand.

It wasn't bad, no one was judgemental, but it did highlight just how difficult it is nowadays to know what the limit is in a particular location**. When I started out with a motorcycle in the 60's it was easy - 30 in built up areas, 70 anywhere else. I think it would have been more beneficial if the two guys running it (who were very good) had been allowed to tailor the content a little more to suit the needs of the group, but I appreciate they had to stick to the script.

I would advise trying to approach it with a positive attitude - it has to be done, so try and get something out of it.

(**For all it's flaws as we often discuss on here, I do find the TSR a useful supplement to, but in no way a substitute for, good observation. Unfortunately the car I was driving at the time of my brush with the camera wasn't equipped with it.)

On Zoom!?  I hope the irony isn't lost on them there...

Yeah. Zoom call and with another 8 or 10 others. Oh what fun. Not.

That's the zoom call where I was asked what I had gained from the course.

" Pick an alternative route with no fixed speed cameras then go as fast as I want" did get a laugh from the other victims.

I wasn't happy about attending - but hey, nearly 50 years of previously undetected crime isn't bad going, as one of the instructors put it!😀

I definitely think I was "lucky" to attend a physical course though - I do feel I got more out of it than I would on line and it was useful to hear from others how they had fallen foul of the rules in different ways. One self-employed guy was there simply because he'd changed his van for a bigger one over a weekend and failed to realise the limits were lower for the new vehicle.
