Passenger front door locking problem

Hi,

Just wondering if this is a common issue and any fix please? Ford S-Max 2012, if you pull up, turn off ignition, and then someone gets out and then attempts to open the front passenger door (when you have not locked vehicle and key is still in car - think passenger dropping something off and driver remaining in the car) then the passenger door is to be locked, without the locking tab changing inside the car to show the door is locked. Only happens on this door. If you leave engine running doesn’t happen. I think the Engine Management System is registering a fault code, although will need to pull data again and check, but has anyone experienced this and had a fix please?
