2010 16L Turbo Actuator Problem.

Featured Replies

My sister's fiesta has been a acting up just lately. She's has an intermittent engine management light which comes on and goes off again with a turbo fault showing. I did hook it up to Forscan after the first time, but the AA had cleared the codes, so I couldn't see them. Strangely the light came back on again when she drove over rough ground. She took it to a garage and they have diagnosed the turbo actuator. When she enquired about cost they said they were unsure as they might need to drop the sump for the oil pipe??

I haven't had chance to have a good look, but it seems to me that this actuator just unbolts from the turbo. Is this correct or am I missing something?

So I managed to get a little more information this morning. The garage found codes P132B22 and P132B85. The engine code TZJA1J.

Just for anyone else reading, it's an 8v 1.6 TDCI 95ps.

It's not likely to be the mechanical actuator at fault with those codes.  It's more likely to be the vacuum solenoid that controls it, or possibly a split in the vac piping between the two.

Sounds like there might be some crossed wires regarding the sump & oil pipe removal.  If the turbo was being replaced on the older 16v engine with known carbon deposit issues, the sump would need to be removed to clean out the system and either clean or replace the oil pump.

For an update on this. I tested the vacuum solenoid and the pipes looked to be in good condition.  However, the linkage for the actuator looked to be corroded so I sprayed it up with WD40 and worked loose again.

That was a few months ago now and the car feels much more responsive and there has been no lights or limp mode.
