Loud Clang - possibly suspension?

Featured Replies

As you can hear at the end of the linked video, as I pass over the tiny raised bit in the road, my car makes a loud metallic clanging sound.

(2013 Fiesta Titanium X)

Unfortunately this was the end of my journey (so couldn't give it a bit more of a test) and I didn't have much time to look at the road and my car, but both seemed fine. No debris on the road and no immediate damages to the car outside and underneath.

It drove fine after (although I was only parking).

I have a feeling it might be the suspension as the noise only happened once the back wheels went over the small bump. However I've not yet had chance to have a good inspection. I know on a previous MOT the offside rear spring was noted down as corroded, so I'm definitely taking a look at that when I can.

But does anyone have any other ideas on what the noise could've been?

The cars had been driving perfectly till then, no juddering, no steering play, no noises at all - this small bump just seems to have triggered it for some reason!

Really appreciate the help, thanks!

Could be the heat shield come lose often happens🙂

Not always easy to see under the car. I'd take it somewhere and get it up on a ramp.
