Help with Battery Drain & Door Lock Problem Please?

Hi, Newly purchased Fiesta Titanium 1.4 2009 stopped locking using the key and then developed a battery drain problem. The battery drains completely by the second day which wasn't happening before using the key to lock the door. Are the two related? Is it possible the cable became detached at a certain position that is sending a signal which is using up the battery? The amp clamp shows a fluctuation about every 10 seconds from 0.5amp to 1.2amps. Is there a known problem that causes the cable from the key lock to become detached, broken clip, spring or something easily replaceable for a reliable fix? Is there a relevant fuse to try pulling and where it is would be handy?
