Head gasket replacement

Featured Replies

Good day

Yes I have a problem with my ford fiesta 1.6 TDCI Trend (2013 diesel)

The car loose coolant so I checked for leakages, replace the Thermostat holder and replace a worn  O-ring.

Still loosing coolant. test drive: below 80km/h and loosen reservoir cap it is fine but at up to 120 km/h it is loosing coolant very fast (3Litre/50km). I do not see mist at the exhaust even early morning. Motor running smoothly.

Saw today pipe from radiator to reservoir making fine bubbles when engine is normal operating temp. Top-gasket I guess. My question is can it be anything else before I start to strip the top off and where can I download a good workshop manual?

Any reply will be appreciated.

Some cars have an oil cooler on the engine block which can corrode internally which lets the oil and coolant go into each other. I do not know if your car has an oil cooler if that type. I believe a garage can test the coolant to see if it has combustion gases in it to verify if head gasket gone between water jacket and cylinder

Sorry I forgot to add: no water/oil or oil/water mix that I can see. Yes it does have an oil cooler.

You need to run a test on the coolant for Hydrocarbons to determine if you have a blown head gasket.
