Mk7 09 1.25 white smoke

Featured Replies

Hi all really stuck now with a mk7 1.25 I purchased a few weeks ago I'm getting white smoke that stinks of fuel starts a few mins after the car is turned on.

I've changed coilpack leads plugs backbox because the old one was full of water. Tested for combustion gasses with a sniff test all good there pulled the injectors all working correctly oxygen sensors are working correctly on live data.

Anyone had a similar experience that could point me in a possible direction for my issue. Is there a way to tell if an ecu has been remapped.

Hi, I doubt it's remapped, I don't think there was a map for 1.25s.

Suspect head gasket failure for white smoke, run a compression test

Probably head gasket.

Do a test for Hydrocarbons in the coolant system.

Does it still do it when engine up to temp, mine does it when the engine is warming up and that's standard operating conditions for the 1.25l, yes mine is newer but they are the same engine

Hi I've tested with one of the color changing snifg kits that sit on the expansion tank and left it way longer than it required. Tested pretty much everything else pulled injectors changed plugs leads coilpack. Put it on the computer no overheating no codes Lamdas are getting correct voltage. It's been sat a while so wondering if the cats full of water. Going to throw it through mot and give it a good rally on the way. Only other issue I see is the previous owner has somehow split the air filter housing and drilled holes in it. Inside is dry and the filter looks new.
