Hi Magimike

Tick over speed is governed by the ecu.

It is not changeable by anyone but ford.

The Reason the tick over speed is so high when cold is because the heater circuit for the cat (catalytic convertor) is on and heating it up.

When everything is warmed up the idle speed gradually lowers down to around 850-900 rpm.

Messing or tampering with the ecu etc will possible affect emissions/fuel consumption and other disasterous effects.

Hi Jamie

Thanks for the info, I will keep the screwdrivers in their box and ask the dealeship to check the ECU if it gets worse.

Hi

Mike

Also i was thinking that if you have a good relaptionship with your local ford garage service manager maybe ask if there are any updates for the software/firmware on your cars ecu etc as this may have been cured at a later update.
