Engine ticking noise when accelerating:(

Featured Replies

Hi

48,000 miles.

Ford Fiesta 2011 1.4 petrol

purchased 3 months ago.
It’s got a full service history

Since about 2/3 weeks I’ve noticed when I accelerate from 1-3 gear (under load) I can hear a ticking noise. Sounds like metal on metal.

It’s only lasts till the car heats up and then it goes away. Usually after 5 mins of driving.  The tick gets faster when you put the harder you put the accelerator down.

You can’t hear it when you first start the engine, or when you rev in neutral. only when you accelerate under load.

I’ve checked the oil and it’s fine.

i had the car serviced 2 months ago and the mechanic changed the spark plugs/ oil.
Also had a new cambelt fitted and he replaced the tensioner pulleys/ water pump and fan belt.

im concerned it’s a serious problem to do with the engine as I’ve read it could be the engine rods been worn or something ?

Is this a common fault with fiesta / any experience around it?

thanks!

I have the same thing going on with my fiesta. I just replaced the valve cover gasket, that didn't work either. If you figure anything out. update
