We have dropped an ST150 engine into our Zetec-S track car, The engine was running fine before we removed it from the donor ST. We have swapped everything tahts needed for the conversion. However the car starts,idles for a couple of seconds the dies, and when you put some throttle on whilst its idling it dies too. Throttle body is fine,fuel pump primes,crank sensor is being swapped although some suggest its working as the RPMS can be seen in Forscan. Its had new plug leads, the plugs are fine and it doesnt misfire in the short time it runs. Our thoughts are fuel starvation so the next job is a new fuel filter. Fuel is getting to the fuel rail although I dont know how much and what pressure, and their is fuel in the tank although the low fuel level lamp is lit

Another thought is an immobilsor issue, but im not sure as the car actually starts. The fault codes that are showing in my opinion wouldnt stop the car running (Ambient Air Temp Sensor and Clutch pedal switch out of measurement) .

Has anyone any other ideas what the issue could be, or am I wrong in thinking that the immobilisor could still be the issue, even though the car runs (for a while)

 

Did you swap the cluster and PCM from the donor car too?

Connect the ambient air temp sensor and swap the clutch switch from the donor, reset all the modules and try again.

Just ensure all the electrical connections are fully secure

 

had the same problem swapping an st150 lump in my green anni the fuel pumps are different for the st150 as they have a higher fuel pressure at idle
