Doors not locking/Light on

Featured Replies

Had my window relegator changed during the week on the passenger side meaning the door card had to come off, Since having it back i've noticed the doors won't lock via the remote (Makes sound) or via the key and if i push in door catch on the drivers side to manual lock it auto pushes back out asap ?  Any idea what is lose? Computer shows nothing

If you cannot lock the car, it probably means that the GEM thinks the door is still open, and this is reinforced by the interior light also being illuminated.

For the removel of both the trim door card and the one behind it that carries all the gubbins, the wiring harness is dsconnected at the A Post so that is where the problem might be, disconnect and reconnect this connector, but I would start by going back to who did the work.......

The only way to lock the car in the meantime, is to disconnect the battery so you can lock it manually, or possibly remove Fuse 24, which is the central locking supply.  I have not tried this, but cannot see why it would not work.  Another possibility apparently is to remove the relevant connector from the GEM, but who knows what other services are carried on the connector ? !

As for the window regulator, was that the problem, or was it the motor ?  The gearwheel stripped on my Fiesta, all I did was replace the gearwheel.  But I did clean the regulator runners and apply some fresh clean grease.

Can't see an option to edit a post nut forgot to answer you're last question,It was the whole thing replaced.

Is there anyway i can lock the passengers door?

With our Fusion, when I could not lock the vehicle becuase the passenger front door indicated open, disconnecting the battery stops the door lock motors operating, so doors can be locked by pushing in the internal door handle, with the doors shut.  Then to lock the driver's door, you might be able to lock it with the key physically from the outside.  If not, I think you can lock it by pushing the internal handle in, then shutting the door, holding the external door handle as if you are opening the door.  This is the only way I have actually done it.

Fuse 24 removes the central locking supply from the GEM, so theoretically that should work, or another way that I have not tried is to remove a connector from the GEM. If you scroll down the indicator topic you will see a post by fullwavebridge on Mar 11 where Trev has posted a link to a utube video, showing how to do it.

The whole regulator Gubbins - I bet that was not cheap !

Could've damaged a wire to the latch when getting the reg out.
