Fiesta Style MK7 front seat tilt lever not working

Featured Replies

My son's fiesta, he has a 2017 Style and the passenger front seat tilt lever suddenly stopped working.

After trawling the internet for a solution on how to fix this particular fiesta seat I decided to attack the problem head on and investigate the working drivers seat.

my procedure was as follows;

1) Remove the seat back rest knob, two screwdrivers on each side and lever off knob, no hidden screws here. Now remove screw at rear of plastic cover of bottom side of seat and remove cover. I think this helps when working on seat cover.

2) push front seat forward as far as it goes and adjust seat back rest forward as far as it goes (you will have temporarily have to put the knob back on to wind forward)

sitting in the rear seat behind faulty seat now;

3) Undo the seat cover at the very bottom, it sticks together with a plastic strip, just pull down the rear seat cover and it will come away. then undo another cover at bottom which clips into place onto seat metal framework.

4) Pull the now loose seat cover up the seat to reveal the inside of the seat frame. Look inside to locate the tilt handle cable, it should have a plastic end piece attached.

5) Look further inside and to the left and you should see another plastic part fixed to seat frame, so the cable plastic end should be attached to this, so in my case I just pushed it back into the fixed plastic part and that's it, the tilt lever now works.

Just wondering if anyone can help me re this issue. My daughter has a 66 plate Zetec S Red Edition (which became ST Line Red Edition) and her drivers seat tilt mechanism regularly breaks. The clip on the outside seems to keep coming off. I can re-attach it, which usually involves me cutting my fingers to shreds when I take the seat back apart, but the cable end doesn’t seem to ‘clip’ into position so while it attaches there seems nothing to hold it in place. This means it comes off again a few days later.  Any help would be appreciated.
