Front Bearing Problem

Featured Replies

Hi. I own 04 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI.

It has 115k miles on the clock.

I keep on having probem with front bearings

N/S has been changed 3 times already.

O/S 4 times, last time 5 months ago (along with a wishbone).

I have been told that my O/S bearing needs to be changed again.

I took a car to a mechanic today. He took the wheel off and told me that a bearing hub needs to be replaced as well).

He didnt have any bearing hubs in store, he called other local garages but non of them stores bearing hubs for Focus MK1.

In the end he called our local Ford dealers, they said its going to cost £115 but I am not going to get it any sooner than Thursday.

Mechanic adviced me to see if I can find it any cheaper online.

I was looking for last 2 hours but all I could find was MK2 and MK3 bearing hubs (£70 for a kit - bearing hub + bearing)

Question 1 : Do you know where I can get a bering hub for MK1 ? (-please help me looking  )

I have found 1 listing on ebay for a earing hub kit for MK1, but that was for non ABS version (for £44)

Question 2 : Is the non abs bearing hub any different from abs bearing hub? ( I wonder if i could get away with putting abs bearing on that hub ;) )

I found this listing for a hub bering for MK1 http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=pl&tl=en&u=http://www.allegro.pl/item1059776122_piasta_ford_cougar_focus_mondeo_i_ii_promocja.html&prev=_t&rurl=translate.google.com&twu=1&usg=ALkJrhixqUaP9zcG60VfyHpPwWai_H39pg

Question 3 : Can anyone confirm that Mondeo MK1 and MK2 use the same bearing hub as Focus MK1 ? - I may have more luck in finding parts for Mondeo :D
