Tribos Treatment

Featured Replies

2019 fiesta active white. I got this car brand new from showroom 3 yrs ago,  I got the Tribos treatment for paintwork etc. Paintwork is still in good nick.
Should I now be seeing about getting a good wax on the paintwork now or should I have done it ages ago?
Also how often do members have their car detailed by a pro detailer outfit?

In my case, never!

My 4 year old red car lives outside, has had no paint treatment, never been waxed but I still get complimented on how good it looks on the rare occasions it gets a proper wash.

modern car paints are far more resiliant than they were even 2 decades ago

The only reason I try to polish my car once a year at the end of summer is to get the Tar spots off, which is an annoyance on a light coloured car.

I normally do a panel or two at a time over a few weeks and to be honest the paintwork of the adjacent not yet done panels does not look any worse than the newly polished ones apart from the Tar spots and the odd other random marks and light scratches that happen over the year.

Don't get a lot of those my way, probably because the roads seldom get repaired!

One thing I am scrupulous about though, is carefully and thoroughly removing bird poo and tree sap, etc, deposits as soon as I spot them.

On the subject of bird poo, if anyone gets Seagull poo on their car then as you say remove it carefully because I once badly scratched the windscreen of car that got splattered at work because I just quickly used some wet paper towels in my hurry to get home, never again.

I agree. I once left some until I got home to wash off and thought I was going to need the bonnet resprayed to get rid of the marks. I got away with it after many hours of painstaking work with a clay bar.

... and don't forget moist baby wipes . If they're OK for a baby's nether regions then they're OK for your car's paintwork - I've used them a few times over the years. (but test a small area first, just in case).
