Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Newbie

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Total fiesta newbie here! I am just looking at buying a 2018 Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Zetec with the City Pack with 6k on the clock.

I'm just wondering if there's anything that I should be aware of our watch out for before diving in and buying the vehicle. Also anything that when (if) I buy the car I should do.

I thought the best place to come would be you kind people who have first hand experience with Fiestas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just make sure its had 2 proper Ford services 2020 and 2022 or allow for a Service and MOT off the price

Some of us service every year so if its had a service in 2021 its been looked after.

Yup, full service history, with Ford. Then, most of us choose to have at least a simple service (oil change) yearly.

Expect a deluge of people making the usual 'Ecoboom' jokes, but pay them no heed- it's a ***** great little engine, which just needs the proper care going forwards. (Regular, reputable oil changes, no flush, etc)

Thanks! I must admit I have seen a few things about the EcoBoost engines and the timing belt being a massive job in particular. It's made me a bit more cautious! But providing you treat it well my conclusion is that it should (hopefully) be fine.

I've had five Fiestas and never had a problem with the timing belt.   They were all regularly serviced by Ford.

I hear a lot of stories on here and tales of woe. I don't know what kind of drivers we have on here but I keep all my Fords for 10 yrs including three that did well over 100,000 miles and I've never had a problem  and I've had Fords since 1964. I've never had a brand new one either.
