Personal Breakdown Cover

Featured Replies

My current breakdown cover is coming to an end on the Golf (which I'm hoping to get repaired and MOT'd soon).  The Mk4 Focus 'Ford Assist' has run out as it's now over a year old.  And the Mk2 doesn't have any cover.  Current cover was only for a single car, but with so many unknowns around whether I'll even be able to drive, and what car I'll eventually end up with, I'd rather just go for personal cover for the next 12 months and hope to be in a different situation by the end of that time.

I need cover for just one person, and want nationwide recovery (ever the optimist lol), not interested in home start etc.

The AA currently have what looks like a decent offer on the above - £66.  Or £69.50 through TopCashBack - with a £36 return.  (So £33.50 as long as the cashback tracks correctly).

The RAC equivalent is £88 currently.  (Potential £46 return from TCB, not done a proper quote for that though).

The AA offer is only on until the end of April...so should I go for it, or will the price stay roughly the same with a 'new' offer a couple of weeks after this one ends?

Thanks

Have you looked at rescuemycar.com also available via top cashback.

Just checked.  £53 a year, with 20% back through TCB.

So AA still cheapest with TCB - though I don't generally rely on that in case it doesn't track.

I use Autoaid, no idea if it's on the cashback sites ( I use Quidco)

£6 cashback via Moneysavingexpert

Thanks.  Autoaid only do vehicle cover though, not personal cover.  They're not on Topcashback.

I'm happy to go with one of the big 3 this year, I was more questioning whether the AA sale is like an ECP sale...or whether the price genuinely will be considerably higher if I leave it another month or so.

Pretty sure it's personal....that's why I have it as I need cover for when I'm on my motorbike too.

The AA price doesn't seem too bad if that has recovery, and better if the cashback tracks. (I always clear the cookies and use a different browser when I buy anything through Quidco)

Sorry, my mistake.  Misread the first question.  It says "I want to cover any vehicle between 0-15...or 15+".  I read it as cover 'a' vehicle.

The AA quote does include national recovery, that's the part the sale covers currently.  Though I wouldn't be surprised if the sale covers something else, creating virtually the same discount, when this particular sale ends.

I have my cover with Green Flag, independently of my car insurance and, currently, with 2 cars and 2 drivers in the family I have personal cover. Each year at renewal I get a quote, 'cos sometimes personal cover works out cheaper and sometimes car cover works out cheaper! It was one of thier agents that advised me to switch to personal cover a few years back to save money, I think I've swopped back and forth once or twice since then as things changed.

I did go with the AA cover in the end.  Personal roadside & recovery for £69.50.  Opted out of the auto-renewal, will see what my situation is in 12 months time.

£34.75 currently 'pending' on TopCashBack.
