Center console screen smashed

Featured Replies

Hi

We are looking to buy a 2009 s max but it has a smashed centre console screen and we are worried that this may affect the car.

Does anyone know if this is going to be a problem and how easy is it to repair.

Many thanks

Matt

Assuming you mean the touchscreen of the satnav, that is integrated with the satnav itself, and also controls climate and audio. You'll need a new (or used working) unit. I don't know what they go for, but I'd expect the part cost for a new part at about 2000 quid, and about 2 hours of labour. If you look for used parts, best look for the part number of your units (as there are different versions, those meant for C-Max or Focus will not fit), the last letter doesn't matter.

Checking Ebay, used parts seem to be available for about 500 quid. Be sure to not throw away the map DVD, and the actual A/C ECU which is fixed to the bottom of the GPS.

If the "centre console screen" is the non-touchscreen satnav or just radio things will be easier and cheaper (and w/o effect on A/C).
