"UK drivers could face £5,000 fine over air conditioning in their car"

Featured Replies

As a former press officer who specialised in sending releases to local media, including real newspapers printed on actual paper, I despair at the content of local news websites, apparently staffed by trainee journalists.

The Bucks Free Press used to be a very fine newspaper. But this article is one of the biggest loads of **** I've read:

UK drivers could face £5,000 fine over air conditioning in their car

See the appended comments.

Yes the local one in my area of the country, which is probably owned by the same people, is full of clickbait also and the story usually bears no relation to the headline.

I have stopped visiting these sites.

Edit, I see the Daily Express also have that piece of clickbait. They are just as bad if not worse than the online local ones.

These websites also irritate me by pushing dubious products that "are taking Berkshire by storm", proclaiming the "exact time" that rain, snow or whatever will hit Reading, listing the most expensive streets "in Reading" when they're actually in the "exclusive" villages of Shiplake and Wargrave and similarly placing incidents in outlying villages in the nearest town. One example of this last was the fire that closed the M4 over Easter between J13 and J14 , which my local news website located at "Westbrook, Newbury"; the two are five miles apart. Another was "Reading's new fire station" that is actually on the western outskirts of Theale.

Having moved to a Ford recently - comparing the switches for the Aircon and heating v those in my Mazda, and earlier cars such a Vauxhalls and VW's then setting up the heating/aircon using the push-button switches which are down the bottom of the dash and out of sight is a distraction - I can't manipulate them by feel, I have to look at the things!
