fog light and tail light not working

Featured Replies

Hi,

after any tips on what the problem might be. The rear fog lights and tail lights aren't working on my daughters 2011 Fiesta. I'm pretty sure it's not the bulbs as 1. the brake lights work and 2. I pulled one light cluster and the bulbs look fine, both filaments on the tail/brake bulb and on the fog light bulb.

The handbook is a bit vague on the fuses, has one labelled "stop lamps", which I assume is the brake lights, and this is fine. I don't see a fuse for the fog lights or tail lights, would it all be the  same one?

Any hints or ideas what issue could be?

thanks

Andy

The sidelights and rear fog light are controlled by the GEM, now know as the 'Body Control Module' (BCM).

Disconnect the vehicle battery first before investigating. The GEM/BCM is part of the passenger compartment fusebox, it is an electronic module controlling many functions. They are prone to getting water in the connectors and on the circuit board. Remove all the plugs from the BCM and look for signs of greenish corrosion and/or signs of water.

Just to update this, fixed the issue with a new fuse (22 in the engine compartment fuse box). Looks like a previous owner fitted the wrong type as it seemed to be a poor fit, standing proud
