Names not showing on text messages

Hey all….

I’ve just bought a 2019 fiesta ST-Line

ive paired my I-phone7 and all my contacts/music etc downloaded and work ok.

when I go to text screen on car it only shows numbers and not names of people who sent messages….

what do I do to sort this out please?

    Do you have sync contacts turned on in the Bluetooth settings in the phone? If you go to Bluetooth and tap on Sync. Make sure contacts are enabled. Also check everything is set to sync on the car. Mine comes up with who has sent messages. I’m not sure why you’d have access to contacts but it not use them for messages.

    I have phone set to sync contacts and car set to sync also so kinda scratching my head

    Are the numbers stored on your device or SIM? They need to be saved on the device. 

    With the phone connected to the car, ask someone to text you. Does their number show up when it is delivered?

    Stored on device 

    I just get their number show up

    ive disconnected and reconnected 

    phone too

    Are you using Bluetooth or CarPlay? 

    I read somewhere that the sync unit only recognises and syncs new messages and pairs them with the name. Existing texts just show the number

    This happened a while back, possibly iOS 15 from memory. It certainly used to work, and the names are still displayed when a message arrives. It just tends to be historic messages at that driving session that only show numbers.
