Start-Stop: your experience

Featured Replies

Hi, my 2011 1.6 S-Max is equipped with a start-stop system. The current battery does not support start-stop; I am considering purchasing a new start-stop battery. What is your experience with Ford’s Start-Stop system? Does it work seamless? And does it really make a difference in consumption? What about wear and tear?

It really is too early in the day to start telling jokes 🤣 🤣 🤣

Save your money and better still do your bit to save the environment by not replacing your battery

Yes it's seamless (assuming manual transmission, not so great in an auto).  No it doesn't save you a noticeable amount of fuel.  No it doesn't cause a noticeable amount of increased wear.

I like it myself, but it isn't worth spending £100 on a battery for.  Stop start will work with a non-SS battery (mine has for 4 years!) so if you want it working, you can try fully charging your current battery and then resetting the BMS.

Mine never works and I’ve fully changed the battery and reset the bms
