2009 Fiesta mystery problem help please?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Posting for my son whonus a proud Fiesta owner but has developed an issue and need your help please

The car has started to idle very poorly and often cuts out. There was also a report of excessive fuel smell. Our initial thoughts were a blocked cat converter, poor o2 sensor but an exhaust probe test revealed emissions are fine. No fault codes are stored. Throttle body cleaned.

So we are a bit lost as to what is the problem with the car and didn’t want to start changing parts unnecessarily

A bit vague, sorry but any initial thoughts appreciated

Pete

What did you use to read the DTC's ?

Generic code readers are very poor at reading Ford specific DTC's. If you are not already using it, then get a laptop and download FORScan, and recheck for codes.

Thanks for the link. Will I need an additional cable or something ro connect to the car from the laptop?

Ok turns out neighbour had Forscan on his laptop but there are no codes stored. The fact that the gas emissions test came back ok does that meant that there is no ussue with the cat?
