ABS Light & Display Reset

Featured Replies

Mk6 Fiesta 06 1.4 Duratec

Changed the oil today.

Had the car on stands, and once the oil change was done, I started the car on the stands to get the oil circulating and check for leaks.

After running for about 2 mins, the ABS light came on and all the counters (trip, fuel, total miles etc) all reverted to - - — - —.

Switched the car off, put it back on the ground, and started it back up. Counters all returned to normal. But ABS light stayed on until I took it for a short drive. Then it cleared.

Checked brake fluid, it’s all good. No codes stored.

Given my experience with the focus toasting ABS modules, does anyone know whether this signifies a coming storm? Anyone had the above symptoms and had them remain?

Perfectly normal and to be expected.

With the front wheels off the ground they would move when the engine was running (even if not in gear). The rear wheels were on the ground not moving and hence ABS became confused. As you have already found a short trip down the road resets the ABS.

Ah yeah. Of course. That makes complete sense.

Thanks for that.
