I would say so personally. Tyre pressures are given on cold tyres ours at 32psi are now at 39psi after a 30 mile round trip today. So if you have yours set at 40then what pressure are they actually at whilst driving around would be my issue.

I stand by the 'size' comment, and, you can actually put whatever pressure you want in a tire within the pressure 'window' of the tire, which is usually quite large LOL Obviously there'll be consequences if you push that window, just speak to a guy I know, he's called Zebedee... 😂

How accurate is the car for tyre pressures? Definitely changes quite a lot during driving depending on conditions.
I know nothing about fitting tyres but even I would have inflated them to low 30s , if I was guessing. They didn’t even check the rear tyre pressures.

I bought a digital hand held tyre pressure thing. £7 from B&Q . For checking .  Seems to be fairly accurate

The Ford pass app and the tyre pressure on the dashboard have always been pretty consistent when checking at the air pump.

I too have a digital tyre pressure gizmo that plugs into the cig lighter in the car and inflates or deflated as required but not had the need to alter them for a while.

IIRC the recommend pressure it 32 front and 30 rear with two people in but 30 always makes the car look too low at the rear so we (I) put 32psi in the 235/40/18.

I changed the front , were 40 let them down to 35 while cold (well as cold as it’s getting today) dash computer is 1psi out from what my thing for checking pressure (I’ve got a plug in thing for inflating too) this thing just tells me the pressure. Short drive computer says 37 . What’s more important? Cold or during a drive?

Cold is more important as that's what the recommended pressures are gauged at so on theory as the tyres warm up during use they are still within the parameters they were designed for.

I concur, a previous car of mine had 225/40/18s fitted. Dam thing was a magnet to concrete kerbs!

hello, so you say that those 18'' are not good for Focus and we should stick with max 17"?
