Drive By Wire Problem ??

I have a new Focus Zetec S with an 1800 petrol engine. I'm told that this car uses a "drive by wire" system rather than an accelerator cable.

Sometimes after re-starting the car shortly after an engine shut-down, the car ticks over ok, but when I put my foot on the accelerator nothing happens

until I apply a lot more pressure, upon which, the revs go through the roof.

My Ford Dealer has re-programmed the ECU with the latest software, but this has not cured the problem.

Has anyone else had a similar problem, and do they know if this is because of the DBW system ???
