Unable to change gear!

Featured Replies

Hi advice please , 2017 Fiesta Ecoboost.

Just had a serious episode where unable to change gears, up/down or reverse when running engine/travelling. Turned engine off (after emergency drift to road side) would go into any gear when engine off, had done quite a few miles so engine hot. When all cooled down - 30 mins, managed to change up the gears to 3rd and went home slowly.

Car full service annually by Ford, last one in Feb 2022.

A bit stiff in last few weeks when engine hot in changing gears up & down.

Advice please on what I need the garage to look at?

Clutch problem.  Most likely clutch drag from the friction plate, but could be the slave cylinder.  Either way, I'd be expecting a full clutch kit replacement.
